River Dee Trust, a Scottish charity, are working toward their vision of a thriving River Dee, supporting abundant biodiversity and binding strong the Deeside communities in Northeast Scotland. Through The River Dee Guardians initiative, companies and individuals are invited to join efforts in preserving the iconic Atlantic salmon and supporting award-winning restoration work, safeguarding a thriving ecosystem and securing the river’s future.

Project Brief

The brief was to heighten awareness for the conservation cause, with a threefold objective: highlighting the conservation charity, introducing ‘The River Dee Guardians’ scheme, and showcasing the opportunities for businesses and individuals to support the vital mission. Yet, the real challenge was to create something that could communicate the river’s vast scale, vulnerability, and the pressing urgency of its conservation.

The Approach

The design concept aimed to weave a narrative through visual storytelling, with illustration, infographics, and compelling content.

A threefold leaflet was designed which would unfold an incredible narrative – the restoration of the UK’s highest river – the River Dee. From its source high up in the Cairngorms, to the port of Aberdeen, this river’s 88-mile journey would unfold within the pages. The design concept aimed to capture the entire journey, from mountaintop to sea, offering a canvas to spotlight crucial projects along its course.

Excellent brochure. Thanks to everyone who put so much into making it happen, and a special thanks to Kirsty Hickman for wonderful design work. I’m sure this will pay huge dividends in promoting the scheme.”

A Humble Contribution

Creating this flyer for The River Dee Trust is a small contribution, but I take immense pride in being part of this initiative.
