Nàdarra: Visual Identity, Website, and Design Collateral
Nàdarra is an independent wine bar and eatery in Stonehaven, on Scotland’s northeast coast. It champions natural, low-intervention wines and seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The name – Nàdarra, meaning “natural” in Gaelic – reflects a deep-rooted commitment to simplicity, sustainability, and thoughtful sourcing.
Here, guests enjoy curated wines paired with a relaxed, honest menu. Every element – from the wine list to the plates – celebrates care, craft, and connection. More than just a place to eat or drink, Nàdarra offers a space where people are encouraged to slow down and savour what truly matters.

project brief
Hickman Design was commissioned to develop a distinctive visual identity and custom website for Nàdarra – a brand rooted in authenticity, quality, and supporting local producers.
The identity needed to be cohesive and flexible, working seamlessly across print, signage, and digital platforms. From menus and merchandise to social media and a responsive website, the brand design had to feel grounded yet refined. It was crucial that every touchpoint reflected Nàdarra’s ethos and values.

The approach
Visual Identity
Nàdarra’s identity centres on a circular emblem – a nod to both a plate and the base of a wine glass. One half captures sunrise fields, symbolising local produce and natural rhythms; the other features a wine glass and grapes, reflecting the curated wine offering. Together, they express Nàdarra’s harmony of farm-fresh food and exceptional wine.
Soft, earthy tones reflect sunlit fields, rich soil, and seasonal produce. This natural palette brings warmth and clarity, grounding the brand in a calm, inviting presence.

Visual Identity Guidelines
To ensure visual consistency across platforms, detailed brand guidelines were created. These cover logo usage, sizing, spacing, alignment, and colour application – helping protect the integrity of the brand in both print and digital formats.

Website Design
A custom, responsive website was designed and developed to bring the Nàdarra brand online. The site tells the story, showcases the menu, and conveys the brand’s values in a clear and engaging way.
It’s built to be intuitive, mobile-friendly, and easy for the team to update. Every detail – from layout to photography – reflects Nàdarra’s calm, confident personality and honest approach.

Good design helps good businesses grow – and this project was a small, meaningful way to back independent hospitality doing things the right way.
