Supporting award-winning restoration work on the River Dee
River Dee Trust, a Scottish charity, works towards a vision of a thriving River Dee. Their goal is to support abundant biodiversity and strengthen the Deeside communities in Northeast Scotland.
Through the River Dee Guardians initiative, companies and individuals can actively help protect this vital river.
Together, they aim to preserve Atlantic salmon, support restoration work, and safeguard thriving ecosystems – securing the river’s future for generations.
project brief
The brief aimed to raise awareness of the River Dee Trust’s important conservation work. There were three objectives: spotlight the charity, introduce the River Dee Guardians scheme, and highlight how others can support the mission. However, the key challenge was to convey the river’s vastness, its vulnerability, and the urgent need for action.
The approach
Leaflet Design
The design used visual storytelling to create an engaging and informative narrative. This included illustration, infographics, and strong written content.
We designed the tri-fold leaflet to showcase the scale of the restoration project. When fully opened, the pages reveals the entire 88-mile length of the River Dee – from the Cairngorm mountains to Aberdeen’s port – illustrating the river’s vastness. The design highlights critical restoration projects along the river, emphasising the Trust’s impactful work.
Roller Banner Design
Additionally, a roller banner was created to extend the message in public spaces. It reinforced the conservation narrative and drew visual attention to the Trust’s mission.

A Humble Contribution
Designing the flyer and banner gave me the chance to actively support the River Dee Trust’s work. More than a project, it felt like a meaningful way to contribute to urgent environmental conservation.
